Being Adored

The vice principal was in my classroom yesterday, a couple of times. The kids and I were working on a Christmassy type craft, making trees and decorating them :

See? Heh.

Anyway, as I was leaving the school at lunchtime, I stopped by his office. He told me, "Those kids adore you! You have them eating out of the palm of your hand."

I adore my kids, and it is nice to think that, even if it is only in moments, they adore me, too. In saying that, you have to understand something : these are inner city teens, tough and hardened.

If that was not enough, a parent of one of my boys approached me today as I was leaving. She wanted to know if I was going to be back full time after Christmas. I was sad to tell her no, as I NEED to be back at work. She was very disappointed, as her son wants me back. He adores me, she said, and is not going to be happy to find out I will not be back full time.

I felt so bad, but pleased at the same time. It is nice to be wanted, and adored.

Yay me!
