Dancing

I am both shy and introverted by nature, although I have learned to manage both thanks in large part to my chosen profession. Yet still, I am a quiet woman, mostly unnoticed as I make my way through my world. Except now, I have this three-year-old roommate, this wonderful Zeeba girl who has the strange ability to take me outside of myself in some awfully strange moments. One of those moments happened today.

We were in the grocery store, just before lunch. It has been many years since I had been in this particular store, but I will spare you the whys and wherefores of that decision. Zeeba and I were cruising around the outer edge of the store - that is where the majority of what you need is located - when I remembered I needed some kidney and brown beans. As we made our way down the aisle, my three year old tipped her head back as she sat in the cart, eyes half closed, a smile beaming across her face that caused a lump to suddenly lodge in my throat. Her pure joy at the sight of the high ceiling coasting past her field of vision was awe inspiring. I had to add to it.

I leaned forward, and said in a low voice, "Just wait, I can make it even better," and turned a complete circle in the middle of the aisle, the cart's motion creating a visual merry go round for my zeeba. She giggled, and the dance began. Right there in the middle of the bean and lentil aisle, we danced. I spun the cart in various patterns, completely engrossed in her smiling giggles, and the happy look on her face. I was so engrossed, I never even noticed the man approaching us until our cart almost mowed his down. *L*

I could not even be embarrassed. It was such a wonderful moment, I simply smiled at him and said, "We were dancing." He smiled and answered right back, "Why yes, yes you were. Sorry to almost cut in."

In moments, I even amaze myself.
