Whoever cares the least about a relationship controls it.

That is my tagling over at WC, and I have been thinking about it since yesterday. Mark and I talked about it after he spoke to Bug about her relationship.

When you are involved with a woman with kids, there are some rules, fellas.

1. Do not involve the kids.
2. Do not say you are doing something for the relationship when it is really self-serving.
3. Do not involve the children.
4. Do not feign an interest in her kid to be "The Good Guy". Be honest. Tell her your interest does not run that deep ..... yet. Fuck, if it is never going to happen, tell her that, too. The longer it goes, the greater the hurt to the children.
5. Do not move away and then allow the contact to be sporadic.
6. Do not say you are taking a job to "make things better" and then not help out.
7. Do not make her choose between you and the kids. If she chooses you, she will hate at least herself, and probably you, in the long run.
8. Do not involve the children.

Fuck it, it is worth repeating. Children are involved, like it or not. You choose the woman, they do not choose the parent.

You can love someone and not care about the relationship as much as they do. Honesty matters in this regard.
