Of Handbaskets and Humour

During our visit with Dad yesterday, the topic arose about how Leshae's house is a place where pets go to 'run away'. It sure does seem like a lot her pets do 'leave home'. So Dad and I, being a helpful great-grandparent and grandparent, suggested she ask her dad and step mom for a ferret. We hastened to assure her that ferrets will not run away, and they are the most wonderful of pets, indeed! We encouraged her mightily to petition for a ferret as often as she could.

As we did this, we were trying very hard not to look at each other. Finally, I could bear it no longer.

"Dad?"

"Yes Sarah?"

"Why are we in this handbasket?"

It was at this point we both had to look away from Leshae, cover our mouths, and do our best to hide our laughter. I hastened to assure him, "Don't worry, I have really cool stickers for the sides."

At eighty-seven, my dad is still a boy in many ways, especially when it comes to gentle teasing. I love him so very much *L*.
