Self Care

Tend to yourself always, for no one else is obligated to, and very few will. Life teaches us that, over and over again. We all have within us great strength, resources that too many of us rarely reach for. As soon as we look outside of ourselves in need of love, approval, or acceptance, we beg for disappointment. Loving, approving, and accepting ourselves is so much more important. Without those, what we offer to others is a pale imitation of our true selves. With them, not only do we offer more to the people who enter our worlds, any and all disappointments are easily borne, for we have one true friend always ... ourselves.

I almost posted this on a message board, but I self-edited. It is true, though, as a good friend pointed out.
