Open & Shut

As I walked past Amadea's room just now, I noticed that she had left her bedroom door open. As I went to close it, a thought occurred to me.

Some day, much sooner than I would care to think, she will want that door shut, want to keep me out of her world.That open door is a symbol, a message to me. Amadea wants us close, does not want barriers between us, knows who keeps her safe, who she can run to in times of need. I realized that I appreciate that, am honoured & humbled by her trust in me, her faith in me.

Someday, that door will be closed to me. But it isn't today. I am happy about that.
