Sex Vs. Violence

It seems to me, in this new millenium, that we might have come a bit further in our views pertaining to sex. Apparently the general public still has issues with seeing sex portrayed on television. I find that disturbing, since they - the general public - do not seem to have the same issues with violence shown on television. I cannot speak for anyone but myself, but I believe it is a troubling thought that violence is clearly more acceptable than sex. What does that say about North American society? I can think of a couple of things, none of them good.
