Friend Requests

I admit it. I have been a member of MySpace for some time, although I never used it much prior to this year. My kids also convinced me to get a Facebook account, which I use slightly more often and find much more entertaining. However, I have an issue when it comes to these friend requests. I am not overly keen on HAVING a lot of friends. Not on these sites, anyway. Okay, truth be told, I am not keen on having a lot of friends offline any more than online. It is hard enough to deal with requests from people I know, like, and do not want to add. But when strangers what to be 'friends' I have to question it.

Yesterday, I received a friend request at MySpace. Some late forties male, a professional wine taster - read "alcoholic" - and I replied to him with two questions.

1. What criteria did you use to find me?
2. What makes you think we would be good friends?

His reply?

My mistake. I don't want to be your friend.

I was almost hurt. Then I remembered, I don't give a damn.

Idiots. Sheesh.
