I was Princ this afternoon. Hey its fun and the extra pay is so not worth it *L*. Some days, it sucks. Then there are days like today ......
All was fine until just after 2:30, when I was called to the office to speak with a woman who ...... sheesh ....
Her family is planning on moving into the neighbourhood - Princess Street - the end of the month. Her two children are going to be registering at month's end as well.
Sounds fine, right? Just wait.
Then she launched into a story about how she left her wallet in her husband's truck, how he has gone to Saskatoon and will not be back until tomorrow. She said she has two kids - the aforementioned children, I am assuming - at a local hotel and she has no money to feed them. She was wondering if the school might be able to loan her $20 until tomorrow. She assured me she would pay us back.
Wanna know what I did? I bet you do .....
I told her I would have to call the Board Office to see what could be done, being the acting princ, not the actual princ. I left her in the princ's office - whoops - and went into the staffroom. The secretary informed me we have no money in Petty Cash - whether it is true or not is irrelevant - so I went back in, told this woman that there was no point in calling the Board Office as we had no money. (I never planned to call the Board Office)
But wait, there is more.
Thinking on my feet - aren't I resourceful? - I suggested she contact Mobile Crisis, as they might be either able to assist her or direct her to someone who could. I jotted down the number to Mobile - FROM MEMORY!! - and sent her on her way.
How'd I do?
A couple of questions ..... How did she get to the school from the hotel? Did I forget to mention she had hip replacement surgery two weeks ago? Uhhuh. She has a vehicle but left two little kids alone in a hotel in a strange city? Umm, okay. Did I forget to mention it sounded strange to me? It did.
LMAO!!
